From the Clubs President

To: Sierra Rotorcraft Club (SRC) Members,

I would like to thank the members of our club who voted for me to serve as the club’s president for the year 2011.  I appreciate your trust in me and I am honored to have the opportunity to do whatever I can to lead our club forward into the new year.  As is true with the USA, the board of officers and I exist to serve the needs of the members.  But to paraphrase JFK, ask not what your club can do for you, ask what you can do for your club.  We need the inputs, suggestions, and contributions of the club members in order to create the best organization possible.

I understand we have many new members who are interested in learning about helicopters and gyrocopters.  The club’s history began with Rotorway helicopters so many of the senior members can present a wealth of information about them.  Some are also gyrocopter enthusiasts and they can advise those members who are interested in gyrocopters.

It is said that a picture of an object is worth ten thousand words.  Based on that premise, I believe the presence of the actual object would be priceless.  And based on that, I propose that the February 2011 meeting be held at Jewgo’s Air-ranch at 1300(1 PM), 19 Feb 11.  The new members who are close enough to attend the meeting can then get acquainted with a gyrocopter, a helicopter, the club’s helicopter simulator, and even a light sport aircraft, and we all can get acquainted with each other.  Bring your questions and they will be answered by those senior members who will be at the meeting.

The air-ranch is located about 2 miles east of Brentwood, CA as the crow flys.  Brentwood is located southeast of Antioch, CA. The members attending, whether coming from north or south CA, should plan to arrive at the intersection of Highway 4 and Sunset Road, which is about a mile north of the center of Brentwood along Highway 4.  Starting from that intersection, proceed east on Sunset Rd to the SECOND 4 way stop,(aprx 2 miles)..  From this point, continue going east on Sunset Rd for about the length of a football field and turn right onto a gravel road,(Quail Trail).  Go south on this gravel road for about 2 football field lengths to where it intersects a gravel road going east.  Turn left onto the intersecting gravel road and go east for about 2 football field lengths to where the white and tan hangar is located.  There are no restaurants nearby so it’s best to eat lunch before coming to the meeting.

If you followed the directions and still cannot find the hangar, call 650-759-4990(Jewgo’s cell) or 925-989-8484 (Jim’s cell).
