Message for All SRC Members:

I would like to apologize to all SRC members for Mother Nature who has been most unkind to all of our scheduled meetings so far for 2011.  But we can be thankful that she has not treated us as badly as she has to places like Joplin and the Mississippi River states.  We can take comfort in the fact that statistics are on our side and that good Fly-In weather will be upon us very, very soon.

The cancelled 4 Jun 11 Fly-In will be re-scheduled for later in Jun 11 depending on when our hosts Tony and Karen Gallian’s schedule permits.  Jim Burrow will send out notices when the date is decided.

I had intended to discuss with the members attending on 4 Jun 11 whether we should participate in Vertical Challenge at San Carlos Airport on 18-19 Jun 11 but is now not possible so each member will have to decide for him/herself whether to attend or not since it’s too late for SRC to take part in it.

Vertical Challenge for 2011 will not have any flying shows.  It has become somewhat of a “Horizontal Challenge” because the basic theme centers on promoting beer and wine with some food chuck-wagons and open helicopters thrown in.  It is now 2 days long from 1000 to 1600.  Adult tickets are $15 and $10 for seniors and ages 5-17.  No free passes will be given out as in the past.  If you like beer and/or wine, be prepared to pay $10 for the first glass and $5 each thereafter. (You need to buy a wine and/or beer glass first for $5 each).

So if you decide to go to “Horizontal Challenge”, try not to become vertically challenged by taking too much booze money with you.

Editors Comment – We are looking at June 25 for the next club meeting and “Fun Time Flying” The 11Th wasn’t working out for those that were planing on flying. I still need to check with Tony and Karen to see if that Saturday will work for them.
