Trying to find a good Sparrowhawk II or III or RAF 2000 GTX SE gyrocopter. Can anyone help me?

  • terry sanderson:

    Hello Rod,
I’ve got a good RAF GTX SE and fuel injected. The price just went down a $1000 dollars. The info is posted at http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25892
and more pics are available at: http://picasaweb.google.com/101325390746629933123/20100414?authkey=Gv1sRgCPi87PPR98L_qgE&feat=email#

It’s in a heated hanger and has been my joy, takin’ me up and over the mountains when I lived in Idaho at 5842′.
Let me know if I can help you or answer any questions.

  • Rod Schmitt:

Terry–sorry I did not reply sooner but I just found out today that you had left me a message. Looks in very good condition. Can you tell me what year it is? Do you have a picture of the flat bed trailer you also have available?

Please e-mail me direct at rod_lin@netins.net or schmittrod@yahoo.com.

Thank you very much for your time.

  • I’m intrigued by the gyros and curious where can I get instruction on flying gyro-copters? Are there any local (Bay Area) instructors? I see JON ROBERT STARK listed on PRA.org. Anyone familiar with him?

Thanks for the site and any help you can provide!

  • Rick DOzier:

I am an A&P with IA. I currently own a Cessna 172N that I want to sell so I can buy a gyro. Too expensive to hangar it at the airport. The gyro, I can keep at my ranch and fly out of there for much less $$$.
I am interested in the jump gyros as I have an intended mission to accomplish, that I need the jump ability to pull off. Also looking to get some instruction in a gyro as well.
Open to any and all offers, including working some if not all of it off. I live in Vacaville, CA Email is: rdozier1@aol.com if anyone is interested.

  • Darren:

I’ve been interested in gyrocopters for years (20). It’s about time I get moving in one. Who trains in this area for flight and who is the best consultant on assembly of a kit.
    Thanks

  • Doug Barker:

I believe you will find that the closest Gyro CFI to CA. is either in AZ. or UT. Sorry but it just isn’t going to be convenient to learn to fly a Gyroplane. We are a very small segment of avaiation and the hassles of getting started pretty much assure that only the people that really want it, will ever get into the sport. However, it is worth it if you really want it. There are several PRA chapters in CA now (some now just reviving) that can help you learn more and give you a chance to talk to people who are already doing it. Everyone is welcome to check out the Utah Rotorcraft Association’s website for information at “utahrotorcraft.org” or e-mail me directly at “doug@domaworld.com” if you have any questions I can help with. Best of luck!

I hold a Commercial with AMEL, ASEL, ASES. Im in interested in a Sparrow Hawk and have located one with N number and experimental on its airframe. My question is. Do I need to be rated to fly this gyrocopter. Ive been told I dont even need a medical and told several hours are needed and after signed off by instructor I must find a Chief Pilot for the endorsement as there is only 3 in the US. What is the correct answer. Please reply to the Email address. Thanks. Don
